In green are islands inhabited in both periods (Consistently inhabited), in red are islands abandoned since 1850 (Abandoned) and in grey are islands uninhabited in both periods (Consistently uninhabited). Archipelagos are the Channel Islands (CHA), West Iceland (ICE), West Ireland (IRE), Quarnero/Kvarner (QUA), Macaronesia (MAC), Maddalena (MAD) and Shetland.
